Northern Star Resources, one of Australia’s leading gold producers, has selected Sandvik to supply 25 units of underground equipment to support its operations in Western Australia.
The order, which was booked in the September quarter of 2026, includes 14 Toro® LH621i loaders, 10 Toro TH663i trucks and a Sandvik DD422i development jumbo. Deliveries are expected to begin in June 2027 and continue through early 2028.
The equipment will be operated and maintained by Northern Star Mining Services (NSMS), Northern Star Resources’ wholly owned in-house mining services division.
Northern Star Resources operates several open-pit and underground gold mines across three production centres: Kalgoorlie and Yandal in Western Australia, and Pogo in Alaska, USA.
“Keeping underground production moving depends on both equipment performance and the support behind it,” Craig Johnston, Vice President, Sales Area Australia and New Zealand, Sandvik Mining said. “Our local teams will continue working closely with Northern Star throughout equipment delivery, commissioning and ongoing lifecycle management.”
The Toro TH663i and Toro LH621i are engineered for the most demanding underground mining environments, Sandvik says. They offer advanced connectivity, real-time analytics, automation-readiness and superior maintainability, enabling high payloads, lower operating cost per tonne and safer work sites.
