Sandvik and Eldorado Gold have signed a joint collaboration statement to strengthen coordination of equipment support and performance improvement across Eldorado’s operations, with a focus on equipment availability, safety and productivity.
Building on existing site and regional relationships, the collaboration will connect site priorities through regular operational and management reviews and structured improvement initiatives, which will be delivered through the relevant Sandvik sales areas and established local support channels.
“A more coordinated approach will help us connect site needs with the right technical expertise and follow through on agreed improvements,” Patrick Murphy, President of Mining at Sandvik, said. “This collaboration will help turn shared priorities into practical work on equipment operation, maintenance and availability.”
The companies intend to develop and pilot the Eldorado-Sandvik Performance Lab, a site-based improvement program focused on a defined equipment group or application. The proposed format would combine advanced preparation with a two-day workshop involving Eldorado Gold, Sandvik specialists and the local team, followed by reviews of agreed improvement actions at 30, 60 and 90 days. The pilot site and scope have yet to be agreed.
A second initiative under joint review would give local support teams clearer access to factory-certified technical specialists for urgent, complex or recurring equipment issues. Local teams would remain involved in implementing actions and sharing knowledge.
Operational and commercial delivery will continue through Sandvik’s regional account teams and established support partners.
“We want our site teams to have clear access to technical expertise and a structured way to turn improvement priorities into action,” Niklas Frank, Senior Vice President, Operations, Europe at Eldorado Gold, said. “The proposed Performance Lab offers a practical way to bring the right people together and ensure agreed actions are followed through.”
The collaboration builds on Sandvik’s established equipment and support relationships at Lamaque and McIlvenna Bay in Canada and Olympias in Greece. The McIlvenna Bay relationship originated with Foran Mining, which Eldorado acquired in April 2026.
The statement followed collaboration discussions in Tampere, Finland, and was signed during the inauguration of Eldorado’s Skouries copper-gold mine in northern Greece on October 8, 2026. The statement reflects the companies’ shared intent to work together and does not include an equipment order or purchasing commitment.
