Blencowe Completes US Grant Funding for Uganda’s Orom-Cross Graphite Project

Blencowe Resources has received the full €4.45 million development grant from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) for its Orom-Cross graphite project in Uganda, completing the programme that funded technical work ahead of efforts to secure construction capital.

The final payment of approximately €223,000 brings total confirmed receipts under the grant to €4.45 million. The funding supported drilling, engineering, resource development and definitive feasibility work, advancing the project towards the financing stage required to develop a commercial mining and processing operation.

The grant is technical-assistance funding, not construction debt or mine-development equity. Although the programme is now complete, Blencowe has not announced a final commitment to finance construction alongside the latest payment.

Feasibility Study Establishes Project Economics

Blencowe’s feasibility work estimates a post-tax net present value of approximately €1.12 billion and an internal rate of return of around 51% for Orom-Cross. These figures provide an economic basis for discussions with prospective lenders and strategic investors.

A definitive feasibility study gives financiers access to the mine plan, capital-cost assumptions, processing data and financial model needed to assess a development. Completing the study does not guarantee that construction funding will follow.

Blencowe must still assemble the required debt, equity and commercial agreements for the first development phase. The completed DFC programme should not be interpreted as a commitment by the US government to fund the mine’s construction.

Graphite Supply Chains Drive Strategic Interest

Orom-Cross is based on a large Ugandan graphite resource intended to serve battery, industrial and advanced-material markets. The project’s potential supply role comes amid China’s dominance in natural-graphite processing and spherical purified graphite production, while Europe remains heavily dependent on imported material for anode manufacturing.

Blencowe’s London listing provides a connection to European capital markets, while the US development grant reflects broader Western interest in diversifying graphite supply. Mining the material in Uganda would not by itself eliminate dependence on Chinese processing if the graphite still required purification or conversion there.

Offtake and Processing Agreements Remain Important

The next stage of development will depend increasingly on commercial arrangements. Long-term graphite offtake agreements could provide lenders with greater confidence that future production will have buyers at predictable prices.

Downstream processing partnerships will also influence the project’s role in Western battery supply chains. Blencowe will need to determine how purification, transport, customer qualification and financing are structured to support potential sales to Western battery and industrial users.

With the €4.45 million technical-funding programme fully received, Orom-Cross moves from grant-supported technical development towards securing the substantially larger investment required to build the mine and processing facilities.

Europa MEuropa Metals has secured A$4 million (€2.47 million) through a share placement and commenced trading on the Australian Securities Exchange, providing funding for exploration across its Austrian antimony and gold portfolio. The capital is intended primarily for projects in the Carinthia region, where historical mining and documented mineral occurrences will be assessed using modern exploration techniques. The company issued 20 million shares at A$0.20 each ahead of its ASX admission. The start of trading marks a new stage in its efforts to evaluate mineral potential across several historically explored Austrian districts. Exploration Priorities in Carinthia Europa’s principal targets are Kreuzeck West, Kreuzeck East and Goldeck-Siflitz, which contain historical workings and mineral occurrences associated with potential antimony and gold mineralisation. The wider portfolio also includes Schellgaden, prospective for gold and tungsten, and Leogang, where historical base-metal mineralisation has been identified. Kreuzeck West covers approximately 21.1 square kilometres, with a mineralised trend extending for around 9 kilometres. Europa intends to integrate historical geological records with modern geophysical surveys, verification sampling and targeted drilling to assess the continuity and extent of mineralisation. Resource Definition and Technical Work The exploration programme will focus on verifying historical mineralisation, refining geological interpretations and selecting drill targets. The objective is to determine whether existing workings and mineral occurrences correspond to continuous mineralised systems that could support modern resource estimates. No JORC-compliant mineral resource or ore reserve has been established across the Austrian portfolio. The current funding is therefore intended for exploration rather than mine development. Licence renewals may also be required for parts of the portfolio as work advances. Antimony Supply and European Industrial Demand Antimony is used in flame retardants, specialised alloys, defence applications and advanced industrial products. European industry remains heavily dependent on imported supplies, increasing interest in potential domestic sources and historically mined districts that have not been fully evaluated using modern exploration methods. Austria’s established infrastructure and proximity to European industrial customers could support future project development if exploration establishes sufficient mineral grade, continuity and scale. The immediate technical milestones are the planned geophysical programmes, verification of historical mineralisation and selection of drilling locations. The results will determine whether the Austrian assets can advance towards compliant resource definition.etals Raises €2.47 Million for Austrian Antimony and Gold Exploration
