Austria’s Europa Metals contracts surveys across more than 40 km

Europa Metals contracted geophysical specialist Xcalibur for helicopter-borne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys across more than 40 kilometres of prospective antimony and gold ground in Austria, the company said on 5 November 2026. The campaign at the Kreuzeck project is intended to refine and rank potential drill targets before Europa Metals commits to drilling.

Mobilisation is planned for November at Kreuzeck West, with the survey extending east across three prospect areas. Work is expected to run from November into December, subject to mobilisation and Alpine weather, and will use Xcalibur’s HeliTEM electromagnetic system alongside high-resolution magnetics to investigate potential mineralised structures.

Historical mining records, surface work and reviews of available data have identified proposed drill locations, including at the Catacombs prospect. Europa Metals plans to combine the new data to improve its geological interpretation, trace structures beyond historical workings and determine where field verification may be most useful.

The ground includes graphite-bearing host rocks and fault zones that can produce conductive responses detectable by electromagnetic surveys. Such responses can have several geological causes and do not confirm concentrations of economically recoverable antimony or gold; interpretations will need to be tested through mapping, sampling and drilling.

Europa Metals is assembling an in-country team in Carinthia while continuing engagement with landholders and discussions with local authorities. Any drilling remains dependent on permits, contractor availability and final agreements, with survey completion and interpretation the next milestone.

Antimony is used in specialised alloys, flame retardants and some defence-related applications. European policymakers have increased their focus on critical raw-material supply chains, particularly where refining or production is concentrated in a small number of countries.

Austria’s historic antimony districts offer exploration targets, but old workings do not establish a modern mineable reserve, a licensed development project or downstream refining capacity. The campaign’s significance will depend on whether it identifies coherent drill targets and whether later drilling demonstrates mineralisation of sufficient grade, scale and continuity to justify a resource assessment. Commercial production, project financing and a mine construction decision remain unconfirmed.
