The State-owned Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM) says extensive maintenance and renewal work is under way along the 861 km iron-ore export line stretching from Sishen, in the Northern Cape, to the Port of Saldanha Bay, in the Western Cape, as TRIM strengthens one of South Africa’s most strategic freight rail corridors. Transnet group CE Michelle Phillips and group COO Solly Letsoalo accompanied Transport Minister Barbara Creecy on a detailed inspection of technical maintenance activities taking place during the yearly iron-ore line shutdown.
