Andrada Reports High-Grade Lithium Intersections at SQM-Backed Lithium Ridge Project in Namibia

Andrada Mining has reported further high-grade lithium mineralisation at its Lithium Ridge project in Namibia, strengthening the potential for resource expansion as Chilean lithium producer SQM continues to support exploration under an earn-in agreement.

The latest drilling results have identified several significant lithium oxide (Li₂O) intersections, including 34.90 metres grading 1.02% Li₂O, with a higher-grade interval of 6.22 metres at 1.67% Li₂O. The results represent the fifth batch of findings from the current drilling campaign and provide additional information about the scale and continuity of the mineralised pegmatite system.

Other notable intersections include 10.66 metres at 1.13% Li₂O, including 4.79 metres at 2.04% Li₂O, and a separate interval of 9.03 metres grading 1.64% Li₂O. The results reinforce the geological potential of Lithium Ridge, although further drilling, resource definition and metallurgical testing will be required to establish the project’s commercial prospects.

Drilling Confirms Pegmatite Continuity and Potential Expansion

According to Andrada, the latest 23 mineralised drill holes confirm continuity across the pegmatite system and indicate structural thickening in certain areas of the deposit. These findings could help guide future drilling as the company works to determine the distribution, dimensions and grade of the lithium-bearing mineralisation.

Exploration has also identified additional lithium-bearing pegmatites outside the main mineralised trend. These discoveries provide further targets for investigation and could expand the known mineralised footprint if subsequent drilling confirms their extent and continuity.

The combination of higher-grade intervals, evidence of structural thickening and additional pegmatite occurrences supports continued exploration. However, individual high-grade intersections do not establish the overall size or economic viability of a deposit. Their significance will depend on whether further work demonstrates sufficient mineralised tonnage, consistent grades and geological continuity to support a larger resource.

Tin and Tantalum Could Provide Additional Value

The Lithium Ridge mineral system also contains tin and tantalum mineralisation in certain areas alongside lithium. If future metallurgical studies demonstrate that these metals can be recovered economically, they could provide potential by-product revenue and contribute to project margins. The extent of any such contribution remains uncertain. Andrada will need to establish the distribution and grades of tin and tantalum mineralisation, determine suitable processing methods and assess whether recovery would be commercially viable.

Metallurgical testing will therefore be an important part of evaluating the deposit beyond its lithium potential. The ability to recover multiple commodities could influence the project’s economics, but no material by-product contribution has yet been established by the reported drilling results.

SQM Partnership Supports Lithium Ridge Exploration

Andrada is advancing Lithium Ridge through a partnership with SQM, one of the established participants in the global lithium industry. The earn-in arrangement provides a framework for SQM to fund exploration activities in exchange for the opportunity to earn an interest in the project under the agreement’s terms.

The partnership reduces Andrada’s direct exploration funding burden while providing access to an experienced lithium industry partner. This support could help advance drilling and technical studies as the companies work to establish the project’s resource potential.

For SQM, Lithium Ridge offers exposure to lithium exploration in Namibia, adding to the broader interest in developing new sources of lithium supply outside established producing regions. Any future development decision will depend on the project’s resource potential, technical performance and commercial viability.

Resource Definition and Metallurgy Will Determine Next Steps

Despite the encouraging intersections, Lithium Ridge remains at the exploration stage. The immediate challenge is to determine whether the mineralised pegmatite system can support a sufficiently large and economically recoverable lithium resource. Future work will need to establish the deposit’s scale, grade distribution and geological continuity while assessing the recovery of lithium into a saleable concentrate. Metallurgical studies will also need to determine whether tin and tantalum can be recovered at commercially attractive rates.

The distinction between promising drill results and an economically viable mine remains critical. High-grade intervals can strengthen a project’s geological case, but commercial development requires evidence that sufficient material can be mined and processed at competitive costs. Andrada’s latest results support continued exploration and strengthen the case for further resource definition at Lithium Ridge. If subsequent drilling expands the mineralised system and metallurgical testing confirms competitive recoveries, the project could become a more significant part of SQM’s developing African lithium portfolio.
